Clear Braces – Invisalign
Rectory House Dental Practice: The clear choice for Invisalign
Make the move to a more confident smile - without fixed braces! Invisalign is the hugely popular alternative to fixed braces. It’s a system which uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gently straighten your teeth over time. Because it involves clear aligners, it provides a more discreet way to enhance your smile. Being removable, you can take the aligners out if and when you need to and also enjoy eating without the discomfort or inconvenience associated with traditional fixed braces. Because Invisalign aligners are made of a very safe patented flexible plastic, they have less of an impact on the gums and the rest of the mouth.
How do Invisalign braces work?
Invisalign applies advanced technology to give you the smile you’ve always wanted. The system uses 3D computer-imaging technology to make a series of custom-made clear aligners. The individual aligners gently move your teeth over time, with each aligner being worn for up to two weeks. By the time you’re wearing your final aligner, your teeth will be in the desired final position! Your aligners should be worn around 22-23 hours per day to achieve the best results. This means wearing them all the time, apart from when you’re eating or drinking (except cold water) or brushing your teeth. However, as the aligners are easily removable you have the flexibility to take them out for meetings and other events, if you need to. As with any orthodontic treatment, you will feel a slight discomfort at first. The aligners are smooth and so are not harmful to the inside of your mouth, but you will feel a little pressure on your teeth, and this is a good sign that the retainers are doing their job.
Is Invisalign right for me?
Invisalign treatment can be used to treat anyone of any age who has a full set of adult teeth. There is also an Invisalign Teen option. Suitability depends on the complexity of tooth position and the amount of movement that the teeth will need to make. At your initial consultation, our expert clinicians will assess your teeth and advise you on whether Invisalign is right for you or whether other orthodontic options would be more suitable. Our goal is to identify the best solution for you to help you achieve your best smile!
